Lion in the Jungle

I (MC Till) picked up the Cypress Hill album, Elephants on Acid, threw it on, and was very inspired. I thought B-Real and Sen Dog did their thing. However, it is DJ Muggs and the beats that captured me more than anything. If you have heard the album, you know there are a lot of instrumental interludes without drums. There are simply these eerie samples that kind of meander in between songs. After about my second listen to the album I said to myself, "I'm going to jack these samples, chop them, and throw some drums to them." And that's exactly what I did. I made a beat tape called Elephants on Interludes.

My friend SamSun Zulu heard the beat tape. He caught some inspiration. He called me. We talked. He did some writing. He did some recording. I did some mixing. The result is Lion in the Jungle.

This album is Hip-hop to its core. The original inspiration came from one of Hip-hop's most accomplished, most independent groups of all time, Cypress Hill. I tried very hard to create the original beat tape as raw and authentic as possible. SamSun came in and wrote the perfect lyrics to match. They are Hip-hop through and through with braggadocio, Jamaican patois, and 5% inspiration intertwining for a very confident lyrical presence.

SamSun and I hope you give this album a thorough listen and then hit us up. We would love to know what you think about the music. Contact us anytime. Text me what you think about the album at 812-430-4464.
